SCOUTLAND ADVENTURE CAMP
For all Cub Scouts

What is Scoutland Adventure Camp?
Spend 4 days and 3 nights at Scoutland on Lake Lanier, near Gainesville, GA. Days are packed with fun and nights are spent under the stars. Your meals will be served in the air-conditioned camp-dining hall and you will bunk in a two-person tent with another Scout or your parent. Hot showers and flush toilets are available in the Camp shower house. There are separate facilities for men, women, and boys. We offer six camps that are held during the month of July. The camp maintains a full-time health facility and provides a certified aquatics instructor, trained shooting sports personnel as well as a full-time qualified staff.

Cubs who will be in either the 2nd or 3rd grade in the fall of 2007, can swim, spend a day on the lake, visit Scavenger Island, learn handicrafts and much more. What a great time for a boy and his parent to spend time together in the great outdoors this summer! Parents will accompany scouts to all activities.

Webelos, who will be in either the 4^th or 5^th grade in the fall of 2007, will receive a special introduction to Boy Scout camping. You have the choice to attend camp with your Webelos Patrol or as a Webelos/Parent team. Boys will be able to work on Webelos Activity pins and Belt Loops, cook, swim, canoe, learn handicrafts, and participate in archery and BB shooting. Webelos will also have the opportunity to cook at least one meal over a campfire (food and equipment will be supplied). There are two ways to attend camp (1) with your Den Patrol and Webelos leaders, or (2) you and your parent can attend as a team. If attending as a Parent/Son team, parents will accompany scouts to all activities.

Who Can Come to Scoutland Adventure Camp?
Any registered Cub Scout can attend Scoutland Adventure Camp this summer. In order to provide the Scoutland Adventure Camp program to as many Scouts as possible, there are no facilities or programs at camp for siblings regardless of age. Scoutland Adventure Camp is open to all registered boys, regardless of race, creed, color, or national origin. Handicapped facilities and special diet considerations are available upon request.

When is Scoutland Adventure Camp?
Six sessions will be offered this year! Sessions operate from 2 p.m. Sunday until 9 a.m. Wednesday and from 2 p.m. Wednesday until 9 a.m. Saturday. Camp Session Dates are:

How Much Does it Cost to Go to Scoutland Adventure Camp?

Youth Fees:

$80.00 per Scout if paid on or before June 5, 2007

$95.00 per Scout if paid after June 5, 2007

Leader /Parent Fees:

$55.00 per Leader/Parent if paid on or before June 5, 2007

$65.00 per Leader/Parent if paid after June 5, 2007

Your fee includes the Official Scoutland Adventure Camp T-shirt and Patch. Shirts are guaranteed with early registration ONLY. Payments received after June 5^th, ARE NOT guaranteed a T-shirt. This fee covers meals, program supplies, etc. Our Camps operate rain or shine. Camp fees are transferable but not refundable. All requests to transfer fees must be made in writing, to the Scoutland Adventure Camp Director, P O Box 399, Jefferson, GA 30549. No refunds due to weather conditions.

You may pay by Check (make payable to Northeast Georgia Council, BSA), Visa, MasterCard or Discover. Full payment is due with registration.

How Will I Know If I Can Attend the Camp After I Register?
Once a registration form (including payment) is received in the Council Service Center, a confirmation card will be sent to you by mail. This card will confirm the date and time of the session you are attending. Adventure schedules and Campsite assignments will be issued on the first day of camp after check-in.

What Will We Do at Scoutland Adventure Camp?
Cub Scouts
While at Scoutland Adventure Camp for Cub Scouts, you will have an action-packed time, geared just for you and your parent. The Scoutland Adventure Camp schedule is set up for you to have FUN from the time you arrive at camp until you leave for home. All activities are planned for parent/son teams.

You will be able to swim in the lake, hike, play on the incredible Fort Adventure Activity Grounds, and learn handicrafts. Take a Discovery Boat cruise to Scavenger Island for an awesome adventure. During your free time you will also be able to work on Belt Loops & participate in other Scouting activities such as archery and BB shooting.

Webelos I
Your parent/son team or patrol will be able to choose eight (8) Adventures, most last 1-hour and count for 1 Adventure. Outdoorsman lasts 2 hours and counts for 2 Adventures. These activities will start you on the path to earning Activity Pins and/or Belt Loops.

Advancement Adventure

Activity Pin Adventures
Aquanaut - Swimming skills are important! Enjoy the dock and swimming area in Lake Lanier! Be prepared to take a Swim Test. Still learning to swim? In this session, we offer beginner swimming instruction. 1 hour
Craftsman - Tools are fun & making things can be great! Learn the proper use of tools and leave with an item you make. 1 hour
Engineer - Make a catapult, learn about electricity, find out what engineers do, discover the physics of block and tackle pulleys in action. 1 hour
Forester - Explore the woods to identify trees, and plants. Learn about forestry - how to judge the age of a tree, etc. 1 hour
Geologist - This program Rocks! Learn about Earth’s deepest secrets. Learn about rocks, minerals and fossils - how they are formed and their uses. 1 hour
Naturalist - Discover the wonder of nature at Scoutland. Participate in a nature project; learn about birds, snakes, & bugs! 1 hour
Outdoorsman - An Adventure dealing with fire building skills, tent pitching, use of knots in camp. Cook a "hobo meal" over a campfire. 2 hours.
Readyman - Learn safety, first-aid, and emergency procedures! "Be Prepared" 1 hour
Ropes & Bridges - Your chance to learn to lash and practice the basic skills needed to build a simple rope bridge. 1 hour
Scientist - Your chance to be a Mad Scientist and participate in neat experiments!!! 1 hour

Belt Loop Adventures
Archery - Learn the techniques and skills needed to hit the mark! Trained instructors teach archery. Earn your belt loop. 1 hour
BB Shooting - Your chance to shoot BB-Guns on our range built just for Cub age Scouts!! Trained instructors teach this Adventure. Earn your BB belt loop. 1 hour
Ultimate - Learn sportsmanship and fair play while participating in this energetic team sport. Wear yourself out playing this fast-paced Frisbee® sport and earn your Ultimate belt loop. 1 hour

Webelos II
Outback Adventure
Returning in 2007 for Webelos II patrols and leaders or for the Webelos II and parent team - this program is extremely popular and has limited space - Participation is first come first served.
Boys attending Scoutland Adventure Camp as a second year Webelos or entering the fifth grade can share in an entire camp experience of fun and overnight camping during their Outback Adventure. This experience will include the basics of canoe safety, safe swim defense, safety afloat, Leave No Trace Awareness, setting up camp, and introductory scout skills. Please review Chapter 14—Water Safety of the Cub Scout Leaders Book #33221C.
Participants will cook at least two meals with food and equipment that is provided. Scouts and adults who have passed the scout swim test will canoe to the Outback Adventure Patrol site while non-swimmers and beginners will be transported to the patrol site by boat. All equipment will be transported to the site for you, so you will only be taking minimal gear for this overnight experience. Showers are not located at the Outback Adventure site; however, Port-O-Potties will be available.

Free Time for All
Although the days are packed with activities, there will be FREE time for swimming, archery, BB’s, fishing and other activities. Free time activities will be selected on the day you arrive at Camp after the Parents’/Leaders’ meeting. These will be selected on a First-come - First-served basis based on availability. You may not be able to take advantage of all free time activities
Fort Adventure - Climb, slide, crawl, and swing, at the Cub Scout Activity Grounds - one of the BEST playgrounds around!!
Volleyball - Always a popular sport! Learn the game and "net" a belt loop too!
Nature Trail -Hike this short trail and identify local floral and fauna.
Fishing - Take the challenge & try your luck for some great fishing. Learn the skills to land the big one. (Bring your own gear. Anyone 16 or older must have a valid Georgia fishing license to fish at Lake Lanier.)
Horseshoes - Always a favorite at Scout Camp!
Obstacle Course - Climb, crawl, crossover, run, balance, and jump!
Archery & BB Shooting! - Put to use those techniques and skills you have learned while having fun! Always a favorite!!!
Swimming - Enjoy the swimming area and dock! Swim tests will be conducted for all campers on the first day of camp.

How Can I Register to Come to Scoutland Adventure Camp?
Register early- each session is limited to the first 200 campers!
There are three (3) ways to attend this camp:

Webelos - There Are Two Ways for Webelos to Register
Its Easy!: Contact your Webelos Leader and find out when your Scoutland Adventure Camp parents’ meeting will take place. Meet early - this camp fills quickly.

#1: As A Den/Patrol

• At your parents’ meeting, come to an agreement on which session to attend
• If your den/patrol is Webelos II, decide if you will participate in the Outback Adventure or Advacement Adventure (you cannot do both)
• If participating in Advancement Adventure, decide which Eight Adventures (choose from Activity Pin and/or Belt Loop Adventures) that you would like to experience.
• Every adult and Scout attending camp should complete the Webelos Den/Patrol form
• Give your registration form and money to your Webelos Leader
• (DO NOT SEND INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATION FORMS TO THE COUNCIL SERVICE CENTER UNLESS YOU ARE ATTENDING AS AN INDIVIDUAL PARENT/SON TEAM.)

#2 As An Individual Parent/Son Team

• Parents will accompany scouts to all activities
• If Scout is Webelos I, choose the Session and Eight Adventures that you would like to experience
• If Scout is Webelos II, choose the Session you wish to attend and decide if you will participate in the Outback Adventure or Advancement Adventure (you cannot do both)
• If Scout is Webelos II, and is participating in Advancement Adventure, choose the Eight Adventures that you would like to experience.

What Webelos Leadership Must Come to Scoutland Adventure Camp?
Each Patrol MUST provide its own volunteer leadership. Leaders do not need to be registered with the Boy Scouts of America. A parent of a Webelos Scout may serve as a leader. A minimum of two (2) adults MUST accompany each Patrol. Leadership Criteria is:

What Happens if I Change My Mind About Coming to Scoutland Adventure Camp?
CAMP FEES ARE TRANSFERABLE-BUT NOT REFUNDABLE.
All requests for transfers must be made in writing, to the Scoutland Adventure Camp Director, P O Box 399, Jefferson, GA 30549 No refunds due to weather conditions.

Health & Safety
The camp maintains a full-time health facility. Every youth/adult that attends camp must have a completed Personal Health and Medical Record #ACS34414-06. This health form does not have to be completed by a physician. All medical forms will be collected on the first day of camp at check-in. Health Information will only be shared with the Health Professional at camp and the Camp Director. Medical Forms will not be returned to you.
Any required medication must be checked in with the Health Office upon arrival to camp. All medications must be in the original container, marked clearly with the patients name and dosage and be noted on the health form Health forms can be found in the 2007 Cub Scout Guide to Summer Outdoor Activities, Here on the Website, and in each of the Council Service Centers of the Northeast Georgia Council.

What Do I Need to Bring to Camp

Important points to remember about Scoutland Adventure Camp

• Check-in begins at 2 p.m. - signs will direct you to check-in site. Please do not arrive before this time.
• Parking is limited. Please carpool if possible. You will not be allowed to park your vehicle or trailers at your campsite.
• Health forms #ACS34414-06, do not have to be completed by a physician. Please bring one per camper (both youth and adult) with you to check-in.
• Health forms #ACS34414-06 can be found Here on the Website, in the 2007 Cub Scout Guide to Summer Outdoor Activities, and in each of the Council Service Centers.
• If any Scout/Adult has any dietary restrictions or physical problems, please notify the Scoutland Adventure Camp Director in writing at P O Box 399, Jefferson, GA 30549, by June 19, 2007.
• No open toed shoes will be allowed at camp.
• A $ 6 fee is required for each guest meal and will be collected at camp. During check-in, let us know the number of guests you expect during your stay at camp. Please note that in order to provide the Scoutland Adventure Camp program to as many Scouts as possible there are no facilities or programs for siblings.
• No pets are allowed on Camp Property.
• There is no need for you to bring any food with you to camp - all food is provided.
• Meal tickets, campsite assignments, and activity location list will be distributed at check-in.
• You will be taking a swim test as part of the check-in process. This means everyone (youth and adult) will get wet. Please come prepared. If any scout should not participate in water activities, parents should attach a letter to his Health Form stating why.
• T-shirts, patches, and schedules will be distributed at the Parents’/Leaders’ Meeting. This meeting is usually held after dinner on the first night of camp.
• Free-Time activities sign-up will be after the Parents’/Leaders’ meeting on check-in night.
• A Trading Post and Snack Shop is available to accommodate your souvenir and sweet tooth needs.
• Boys and Leaders should wear your official Scout uniform when traveling to and from camp.
• Boys and Leaders should wear your official Scout uniform at dinner and flag lowering.
• You may wear an activity uniform (Scout shorts and Scout related T-shirt) during the day.
• While at camp, everyone will cook a "Hobo Meal" in your campsite. Webelos II who participate in the Outback Adventure will cook at least 2 meals. All food and equipment is supplied.
• You do not need to bring your Wolf/Bear/Webelos Handbook.
• Checkout is at 9:00 a.m. A staff member will inspect your campsite before you may leave.
• Any adult, who would like to help teach a class while at camp, please let the Camp Director know.
