Roundtable
Roundtables are held the second Thursday of each month except June, July and December,
beginning at 7:00 P.M. at Blue Ridge United Methodist Church.
The District Committee meets at 6:00 pm prior to roundtable in September, November,
January, March and May.
Nick’s Notes
The Mountain District Cooking Challenge was a great success. This is measured on quality of challenge met. The May
Roundtable for Boy Scouts was a challenge to all Mountain District scout leaders to bring and cook their favorite camping
menu item. Judging was done by D. Dyer and S. Pixton (an Eagle Scout member of Methodist Church where Roundtable is held).
After much lip-smacking tasting, and after all the fragrant aroma of cooking, and sometimes after a second helping of items,
the judges decided on the following results:
- Best Backpacking item
- M. Jones Troop 402 - Backpack Pizza
- Best one-pot item
- R. Welling Troop 7807 - Sumptious Stir-Fry
- Best Dutch Oven item
- M. Jones Troop 402 - Berry Berry Good Cobbler
- Best Foil Items
- D. Barr Troop 32-Fresh Corn on Cob, Chick & Vegs, Sliced Caramel Apples
- Best 3-Pot item
- B. Brumley Troop 101-Cuban Red Beans w/ Rice
- Best Stove-Oven item
- R. Welling Troop 7807-Beautiful Biscuits
The real winners were those getting to taste all that great food. Congratulations to those participating. You made this
Roundtable memorable.
