What is this course all about anyway?

Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders is required for all Webelos Leaders, and will be held at Scoutland on Lake Lanier in Gainesville (see www.nega-bsa.org or NEGA Service Center for map & directions).

Participants will be camping overnight and learning basic camping and cooking skills to the Cub Scout standard.  This course does not include, cover, or substitute for BALOO.

Any registered adult Scouter may attend. Participants will be outdoors the entire weekend and sleeping in tents. Please dress appropriately and plan for the weather.

The registration fee includes program materials, Saturday Dinner and Sunday breakfast. Please let us know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions. Bring a sack lunch for Saturday and please eat Saturday breakfast before arriving. Sorry, there are no provisions for children or pets.

Check in starts at 8:00 AM on Saturday and training begins promptly at 9:00 AM. The program will end Sunday at Noon. Please wear your BSA Field uniform.  If you have not completed Youth Protection training or it has expired (must be done every two years), you can do so at this course.

The following equipment is recommended:

Tent & Ground Cloth

Pocket knife Personal hygiene items

BSA medical form parts A & B

Lawn chair Field Uniform (Class A)

Proof of Youth Protection

Personal first aid kit Activity Uniform (Class B)


Coffee cup or mug Warm clothes/jacket

Poncho or rain gear

Notebook & pen #10 can (food service type)

Mess kit/eating utensils

Sleeping bag and pad Water bucket or 2 more #10 cans


Canteen or water bottle Webelos Leader Handbook

Registration Fees

Registration fee $30.00 if paid before September 1, 2016. Fee will increase to $40.00 after September 2nd.  Deadline to register is Thursday, September 15th.  No walk ins.
