What is University of Scouting?

The University of Scouting is a Scout leader’s learning adventure! It is an action-packed, fun-filled single day of supplemental training where you choose the sessions that you wish to take. Sessions are led by experienced volunteers who will help you enhance your ability to deliver a fun and exciting program to the scouts.

University of Scouting is NOT just for registered leaders. Whether you are a leader, a parent, or a youth in a leadership position, we have something for you. With so many new families joining our Scouting family, we want to make sure that you have what you need to provide the best program for your youth.

2014 Course Catalog

College of Cub Scouting

Cub Scout leaders and parents can learn how to throw some pizzazz into their Pack meetings, what is a Den Chief and how to best utilize them, and how to build a successful Pack program. These are just a few of the many exciting classes in the College of Cub Scouting.

College of Boy Scouting

Whether you are new to Boy Scouts or an “Old Timer”, there is always something new to learn. Pickup some essential tips to running a troop, learn how to make some lashings, or the ladies can learn what it takes to make it in the woods. This is just a taste of the College of Boy Scouting has to offer.

Leader Specific Training

So you decided to put on a tan shirt, didn’t you? Well this is the place for you. Whether you are a new leader, a parent who wants to see what is in store to be a leader, or a youth who is in a leadership position; this is the place for you. Every scout deserves a trained leader! This year we have done our best to move the required training classes to the morning. Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturing, and Youth Protection for Cubs/Boys and Venturing. There is something for everyone.

        College of General Studies

Want to learn how to cook in the backcountry? Want to know what duct tape really can do? Want to put on a successful interfaith service on a campout? Well we have something for you! These are just a few of the classes offered in this exciting area.

College of Venturing

Free food! Need we say more? These classes are located toward the end of the day so our Venturing teenagers have time to wake up and be fully prepared to participate with adults on what it takes to run a successful Venture Crew. If you are in Venturing, you need to attend. Curious about Venturing? You need to attend. Did I mention free food?
*** Food may not be offered but just these two words will get teenagers motivated ***

Den Chief, Chaplain’s Aide, ILST, & ILSC:

Do you have a new PLC or new Crew leadership? This year we are offering ILST and ILSC for youth.
Den Chief and Chaplain’s Aide (new) training are offered for those boys who are trying to be the best in their leadership position.

Scouting’s Showcase:

Wood Badge, Summer Camp, Order of the Arrow. Come see the latest that Scouting has to offer. Need a table? Contact our Facilities Manager Shane Martin – moc.1413892607liamg1413892607@1nit1413892607raMen1413892607ahS1413892607

Who Should Attend?

YOU should attend for sure, along with hundreds of your fellow Scout leaders from Northeast Georgia Council.
